Dan Rather interviewed an Indian Computer Software engineer (He had brought his wife and two children to the US) Initially this Indian engineer was sponsored by SUN Microsystems on an H-1B visa. He soon learned he was making 50% less than his American counterparts! (haven't we heard how H-1b are being paid an comparable salaries ) As you know it would be difficult to change employers as he is tied to his H-1B sponsor. Fortunately he found eBAY was willing to hired him and sponsor him for a Green Card. Good news until the bust of the economy and he became a casualty of layoffs! He found no job offers, soon to learn he was expensive and expendable. |
