I think he posted a while ago about cosigning for someone else's educatin loan and he was worried if they can misuse his info. What I said is based on that post. May be I am mistaken. At the end of the day people file for bankruptacy for n number of reasons. I know someone who bought a home for 3 crores in India and at the same time walked away from the home here b'coz it is under water. They wanted me to co-sign their apartment rental. I said no f*ing way. You want to cheat the system, be ready to deal with the repercussions as well. All that said we know nothing about kalikalam's friend. What I said above is not about him, but people in general. | ||

The guy who filed for bankruptacy must know that it will be difficult to rent an apartment before filing for bankruptacy. All that said when you file for bankruptacy your credit rating takes a dive. Apartment rental companies do a credit check. If your friend was not evicted or he has no credit liens from utility companies and if your friend can show to the apartment manager that he can afford the payments, he shouldn't have problem finding an apartment. If he asks you to co-sign, unless you are a very good friend, I would say let him deal with it on his own. Like someone else said sublease is his best option. Meaning if someone is moving or want to break their lease, they would want to sublease their apartment to your friend. | ||
