Rajneeti is a mishmash n remake of shyam benegal's "kaliyug" which actually takes the characters of mahabharat n places them in a contemporary world and if in mahabharatha the fight is between siblings for power (throne) in Kaliyug its a battle for power with a Corporate Backdrop... and in rajneeti its battle for power with a politics backdrop....so in terms of plot rajneeti is more closer to mahabharat than kaliyug....but kaliyug had a better script n better dir n better actors behind it.... Most of Rajneeti characters are well etched except those of ajay devgan n katrina kaif n naseeruddin shah.... Ajay Devgan plays the role of Karna....and there is no proper reason why he takes such extreme steps to show so much loyalty to bajpai.... katrina kaif...i think if they wanted to show sonia gandhi then they would have given the background of kaif as someone from london who doesnt know hindi or how to act on a dias she should have perfectly fit the role of sonia...but they chose to show her as a real desi bahu and she cannot deliver it.... naseeruddin shah is only in the movie for a sex scene....donno wat the dir was thinking.... arjun rampandu cant act...he is like our nag....he looks good thats about it... Nana Patekar keka.....the scene in which he loses and comes to kill ajay he was superbbbb.....watched so many mahabharathas but never watched a sri krishna like him.... Manoj Bajpai has nothing much todo except to get drunk n break glasses....kurrod character is more one dimensional.... Ajay was decent.... Ranbir keka....keka antey keka.....kashayam batch should endorse him unprecedentedly....he is simply superb....his reaction when he gets smashed by the SP caught me by surprise....like here is like this prince kind of a kid...who was never even yelled by anyone in his life gets a blow to his face and he shows that humiliation n embarrassment n helplessness u will feel for him really....and his tranformation is also very believable unlike small B's in sarkar.... U can watch the movie easily cause mahabharath is so cool that no matter how many times u see its interpretation on screen it catches u by surprise again n again...just like god father....
