2010 gave mixed results for Telugu cinema Industry until now. There is no increase in the usual success rate and also it isn’t a big dip considering the previous years results. The top hits of 2010 till now… 1) Simha: It is undoubtedly the biggest hit of the year so far. Balakrishna is back with a bang with this film, which registered his first hit after six long years. Boyapati Srinu presented Balakrishna in the tailor made role that cannot be essayed by any other hero except Balakrishna. Once again, Simha word proved successful for Balakrishna and it easily surpassed his big hits like Samara Simha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu and it is by far the biggest commercial hit in Balakrishna’s career. Though there is considerable dip in the collections of Simha in its fifth week, it has already made into the list of all time hits of Tollywood. We have to wait and see if any other movie can displace Simha from the top seat and take away the honors of being the biggest hit of this year. 2) Adurs: It is all good news for Nandamuri fans this year. If Balayya takes the top seat, the second best hit so far in this year is NTR starrer, Adurs. This movie released for Pongal and went on to become a runaway hit with rocking collections all over. Fans expected this film to beat Pokiri and take the second place in the all time hits list of Telugu cinema. However, Adurs lost the momentum after initial weeks. But it was already a big hit by then. Vinayak’s direction and Devisri’s music played a big part in this success. Also Brahmanandam is another asset for this film. 3) Darling: This should be termed as the silent hit of the year. There is no big buzz about this film pre and post release. It silently went on to reap rich profits and also eventually ended the bad run of Prabhas at the box office. Karunakaran’s direction and Kajal-Prabhas combination won laurels from the audience. It is the third big hit on the list so far. Above Average films: Betting Bangarraju: Once again the title starting with B proved a safe bet for Allari Naresh. This film registered another success in Allari Naresh’s career. Usha Kiron Movies, which is highly relying on young audience of late has explored the B, C centers market with this film. Ye Maya Chesave: Gowtam Menon was successful to give Naga Chaitanya his first ever hit. This film got superb talk from the youth and class audience and heavily rejected by the masses. On the commercial front, YMC was not a big success. But it will remain as one of the good films of 2010. Samantha, who made debut with this film, is now making waves in Telugu cinema industry. AR Rahman’s music is a big bonus too. Leader: So much hype and hungama was done for this film. Leader marked the debut of Daggubati Rana, who scored some brownie points with his first outing itself. The film was highly applauded by the so-called intellectuals, but it failed to make an impact on common audience. It ended as an average to above average film. Bindaas: Manoj’s Bindaas got so much positive talk but it actually failed to convert that into collections. However, it gave the necessary boost to Manoj, who has been waiting for a reasonable success to show off. Writer Veeru Potla turned director with this film. Average films: Venkatesh, Srinu Vytla’s film Namo Venkatesa only survived for the Pongal holiday season and lost the steam thereafter. Prasthanam is another film, which got huge applause, but failed to make a mark at the box office. It is the same case with Shambo Shiva Shambo too. Rama Rama Krishna Krishna, the age old formulaic film is managing to get some collections from the mass centers. Duds: This year’s biggest dud was Varudu and it was closely followed by Kedi.
