The executable is not working, no matter how I log in. It keeps asking I should have Admin privileges, even though I have.

Windows 7 activation 101: For all those guys who are seeking Windows 7 key, please read the following. The days of having keys generated were over with Windows XP. Starting with Vista, Microsoft came up with a process. The same process applies to Windows 7 also. As per the new process, every retail copy of windows needs to be activated. This this is acceptable process for individual users (for paid users), it is not acceptable to: a. OEM companies (like DELL, IBM, ACER, etc. etc - who manufactures a lot of machines in a factory) b. for big customers's internal use (like citibank, google, american express, etc etc). So, Microsoft came up with 2 different processes to make these type of client's life easy. a. OEM activation: In this process, the manufacturers will have some specific info called SLIC (v2.0 for Vista and 2.1 for Win 7). and there is a common key that is used to trick the activation. during the process, it looks at SLIC info and activates windows without making a trip to Microsoft. b. KMS activation: In this case, big corporations run their own version of "Key Management Services" so they do not have to make a trip to Microsoft. Please read more online if you want more details on these methodologies. Having said all that - how do we activate our windows? In most of the cases, people use tricks to cheat OEM activation. To do this, we need to make sure that the machine BIOSis compatible with SLIC 2.1 For new machines from major manufacturers, it is not a problem. They come standard with it. if not, they can go to the manufacturer's web site and download the latest bios, which will have SLIC 2.1 in it. The problem is with older machines where manufacturers stopped supporting them and hence no new official bios with SLIC 2.1. In this case, there are some tool available to mod the original BIOS file to make it SLIC 2.1. However, it requires more in depth knowledge of the process and I do not recommend for somebody who is playing with this process new. The other option is to search on the web for modified bios for your specific model. People have done it for almost every popular make/model and the modified bios is available if you google for it. After the new modified bios is flashed, here is the process to activate it. - install windows (of your choice). but make sure that you have the OEM master key for that version. - run a couple of commands to activate the windows. If you google for the above process, you will find millions of links. Hope this helps. Have fun guys. | ||
