Let's say i get up suddenly from a sound sleep... may be because i was dreaming about god (that could be bcoz i went bed thinking abt god).. and when i woke up i have this sudden desire to go to temple and see god immediately. So i might just jump out of the bed and run to temple... i may not be in a clear state of mind about my material surroundings as thoughts abt god are dominating my conscious and sub-conscious mind. But people who see me in that attire might find it objective but who knows... i might be right and others who are watching me might be wrong... bcoz i forgot about my surroundings thinking about god and others at temple are concentrating on people like me instead of concentrating on god... I will post it in 2 parts. First, let me write it the view of Srinivasa devotee ____________________________________________________________ _______________ Kalyanam event was supposed to start at 9:30 AM. But by the time we have reached the venue it was already 10:15 AM. The moment i got down from the bus i saw a huge weather proof tent with TPT temple picture/art setting in front of it. - Bus digina ventane volunteers vachi registration tent ki guide chesaaru. More than 10-15 volunteers were helping devotees in the registration process. - Registration tarvata another volunteer guided us to shoe deposit tent. Okko family ki oka trash bag and token ichaaru to keep the shoes. Chaala simple but effective gaa handle chesaaru (Keep in mind that, they had to store 2000+ pairs of shoes) - Next another volunteer guided us to the big tent - "Kalyana Vedika". Ikkada entrance lo walk-through water sprinkler set chesaaru so that devotees can wash their feet before entering the venue. Kalyana vedika lo enter ayina ventane all of us were shocked. Unbelievable effort from the organizers anipinchindi. Huge temple set in the backdrop of stage. And it was beautifully decorated with tons of REAL flowers. Dozens of flex/vinyl posters of diff gods pastes on the walls... For a minute we forgot that this is happening in america. We felt as if we were standing in Tirupati. Venue was almost full. We were looking around for a place to sit. - Again some volunteers came forward and guided us to some priests on the side to say "SANKALPAM" - Sankalpam cheppina tarvata you can sit where ever you find place ani chepparu (irrespective of ticket price). May be because it was too late or almost full. My cousin who is a ardent devotee of Lord srinivasa was tensed till then as were late and she didn't want to miss out any part of the event. Luckily, Kalyanam didn't start by then (10:30 AM) Someone was giving a inauguration speech. As per him, NJ Gov Chris Christie couldn't make it to the event due to last minute schedule change. But he sent in a short message which was read out by the guy. He also explained why they had to charge money from devotees. Speeches tarvata Annamacharya keerthana tho Kalyana Ghattam start ayindi. - Annamacharya Project team from the TTD came down here to take part in the event. Lead singers were amazing. - Majority of the devotees joined the singers as everyone seems to be pretty familiar with the keerthana's. - And when they called everyone to say "Govindaa.. Govindaa"... auditorium reverberated with "Govinda" chanting. - Stage meeda one side Annamaacharya singing team and another side GHANAAPATI team. Someone on the stage explained the meaning of GHANAPATI. (if i heard it right, it is someone who studies all veda's from the age of 10th to 22nd) - And there was one guy (forgot the name) who was acting as translator or anchor. He was amazing. Explained every tiny detail of the Kalynam event as it happened. Pancha bhootalu ante emiti? Kalyanam/Pooja appudu homam enduku vestham? etc explained in layman's terms. - Towards the end of the event, Govinda nama's chadive appudu aa area mothan oogipoyinattu anipinchindi. - Organizers ki hats off. Chinna chinna details kuda baaga gurthupettukunnaru. Kurchoni vunna andariki every 20-30 mins water serv chesaaru... - Kalyanam tarvata, andariki line lo stage daggaraku pampaaru so that everyone could see Lord up close. - Another amazing thing enti ante, vachina prati family ki oka saree, jasmine flowers, laddu etc ichaaru. - Prasadam tent lo organizing konchem baagoka poyina no body cared. Prasadam consisted of - Tamarind rice, Sambar rice, Curd rice, Laddu, some other sweet, raitha, pickle. And they served it for 10,000+ people i guess. Wow !! I guess nobody else would have pulled it off so well, if it was not for TTD's enormous experience in executing such large scale events. Overall, it was a unforgettable experience for Srinivasa Devotees.
