M Krishna, from Sultanshahi in Moghulpura, was arrested by the Musheerabad police at Parsigutta on Sunday. According to sleuths, on April 23, Krishna called on Shankar Rao's cellphone and introduced himself as Congress MP Y S Jagan. He then demanded Rs 2 lakh which he said the MLA was supposed to give him. He even gave his bank account number and told the MLA to deposit the cash in that account. The MLA thought it as a prank call and ignored it. On Sunday, the MLA again got a call from 'Y S Jagan.' But this time, the MLA told the caller that he could recognise the Congress MP's voice and warned him to stop the impersonation act. "When the MLA refused to give any money, Krishna threatened him with dire consequences and the legislator informed the police," Musheerabad SI S Venkat Reddy said. Police acted swiftly and by tracking the mobile phone of the accused, nabbed him near Parsigutta and slapped cases under sections 384 (extortion) and 419 (cheating by impersonation).
