Bookies behind DC defeat in IPL? Why did Deccan Chargers lose the semi-finals match with Chennai Superkings at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday? When Chennai team was restricted to just 142 runs, everybody that it would be a cakewalk for the DC team to reach the target and enter the finals. But the way, the DC team chased the target gave rise to suspicions that somewhere, something was wrong. The way DC team dropped crucial catches and members getting out for poor shots created a feeling among the audience that the match was totally fixed. In fact, DC was team was more consistent in its victories than the Chennai team and it had beat the CSK in its earlier two matches. In the last league match with Punjab team, the Chennai team had to score 16 runs in the last over, which Dhoni finished it off in three balls. Several people raised doubts on the same day, but the game went on. Yet, Chennai was the hot favourite for many, for obvious reasons. The bookies betted heavily on this team’s prospects -- (11/13), over the Deccan Chargers (11/10). It is learnt crores of rupees changed hands between CSK franchisee India Cements and DC franchisee Deccan Chronicle group. Apart from direct exchange of money, one would not be surprised if there is going to be a business tie-up between India Cements chief Srinivasan and DC owner T Venkattram Reddy in future.
