Two young constables, Amarnath Reddy and Gayatri, working in the Madanapalle rural and Tirupati Mahila police station respectively, were taken into custody at the Sudharshan Cottage block in Tirumala, abode of Lord Venkateswara, by the vigilance and security personnel of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in the small hours of Monday. Amarnath Reddy, hailing from Palamaner and Gayatri from Chandragiri, were maintaining closeness for the last several months. They checked into cottage No. 4 at Sudharshan block around midnight of Sunday. Around 2.30 am on Monday, the TTD vigilance and security personnel got information that the two constables were not a couple and that they were not on duty at Tirumala. Immediately, the TTD staff raided the room and found the couple in a compromising position. They were profusely sweating and anxious. After thorough search, the staff found both used and unused condoms in the room. The duo was in uniform when they checked into the room and during the raid. At 8.00 AM, they were handed over to Tirumala II town police, who in turn got the youngsters married at the police station itself, after a two-hour long deliberations with the TTD staff. A police official said that the young cops were in love with each other and that they came for the Lord’s darshan. On the willingness of both, a marriage was arranged for them. In the presence of the media, police and TTD staff they exchanged garlands. |
