Bhoota Vaidyam for Botsa! Panchayat Raj Minister Botsa Satyanarayanaâs comments in support of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh continue foment unrest in the Andhra region. Students of Andhra University, under the banner of Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee, conducted âbhoota vaidyamâ on Botsaâ effigy in the university campus on Sunday, alleging that the minister was affected by âbifurcation bhootamâ (devil of bifurcation). Later, they declared Botsa dead and took out a mock funeral procession. However, the JAC action has led to a split in the students community. Tension prevailed in the campus when the supporters of Botsa among the students prevented the rival camp from taking out mock funeral procession. A section of the student JAC led by Mahesh and Sumanth obstructed the procession, but the other group refused to stop, which led to physical clashes between the two groups. The police entered the scene to prevent the law and order situation. They counselled the students to set aside their differences over silly issues and fight for the united Andhra Pradesh.  |
