Pro-T activists disrupt APFCC meeting TNN, Mar 15, 2010, 06.35am IST HYDERABAD: Tension prevailed at Film Nagar when nearly 50 pro-Telangana activists tried to enter Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber of Commerce (APFCC) office where the general body meeting of directors was being held. They demanded that directors from the Telangana region should get their share in the office-bearer posts of the body. They staged a protest raising âJai Telanganaâ slogans for nearly 30 minutes. The Banjara Hills police arrested 14 protesters and later released them. According to Banjara Hills sub-inspector N Ravinder, directors were holding their general body meeting at the the Chambers. At around 11 mm the meeting started. Meanwhile, Telangana activists arrived at the venue at Film Nagar and raised slogans like âJai Telanganaâ and âWe want Telanganaâ. They also tried to enter forcibly into the office premises, police said. âWe took 14 Telangana activists into our custody. Cases were registered against them under section 151 (Arrest to prevent the commission of cognizable offences) of the CrPC. Later, they were released on personal bail,â the SI said. |
