No political slogans in answer sheets, Inter students told TNN, Mar 9, 2010, 05.00am IST HYDERABAD: Board of Intermediate education (BIE) authorities have asked Intermediate students not to write 'Jai Telangana', 'Samakhya Andhra' or any such slogans on their answer sheets. This will be considered as a malpractice as per the BIE guidelines, officials stated. "Why should the students be politicised at such a young age. They will be revealing their identity by writing such things which might influence the evaluators in any which way," said G Balaramiah, BIE secretary. He, however, maintained that the answer sheets with such slogans will be evaluated. Addressing the media two days ahead of the examinations, he said malpractice committee will look into complaints of discrimination. This year, 8,88,297 students are writing the first-year and 9,81,799 students are writing the second-year examinations in both general and vocational categories. The BIE has identified 365 problematic centres and has constituted 104 flying and 145 sitting squads in 2,331 examination centres in the state. Meanwhile, due to the clash of dates of SSC and Intermediate examinations, the officials stated that students in rural areas will have to sit on the floor and write the papers due to inadequate accommodation and furniture. Each district may have around 10 such centres and BIE estimates an approximate 200 such centres in the state. Last year, there was exchange of furniture between high schools and colleges during the public exams. This year, OMR stitched answer books with 24 pages containing 24 lines on each page are being provided for English and second languages, with no provision for additional answer books. "We are providing 25 per cent more space than required. Based on this year's response, these answer books will be introduced for all the exams from next year," said an official. The secretary also said that apart from adjacent districts, papers will be sent to all the other districts for evaluation. Section 144 will be promulgated outside examination centres along with police bandobast to curb malpractices. APSRTC authorities have been requested to arrange bus services from 5 am to 7 pm on all examination days. |
