@gotcha. yes, agreed. But in the begining of the film that's not obvious. The movie is twisted. I saw it probably 3 times. If there is one film script in print I would want to buy and keep it will be "memento". What is yours? | ||

yes but only when u fully dont understand the movie. ******************8 spoiler for memnto ***************** hero is the villain in the movie. he killed his wife's killer long back but still he keeps killing people since he needs a motive for life. This is one explanation. another explanation is his wife never had diabetes otherwise how would he remember he giving insulin cos this was before his accident. so maybe she was never even killed we never asked them to publish any figures. david lynch belongs to dark and surreal world ------------------------------------- yes, "mullohand drive" and "blue velvet". Enough said. "memento" is an example of great film making IMO. It is dark but was but you identify and empathize with the lead character. It's very personal story told in a very creative and clever format. I refuse to watch "ghajini" b'coz I don't want memento ruined for me no matter how well the telugu/tamil/hindi versions are. | ||

yes, dark knight is considered too dark. In "batman begins" Bruce Wayne's fear of bats and the resulting death of his parents and his transformation to batman is supposed to be very dark. All 4 of Christopher Nolan's films - batman begins, the prestige, insomnia, dark knight are in dark film genre for me. Dark knight probably takes the cake. | ||

So, if a movie is about negative traits of lead characters, does it fall under the "dark" genre? If yes, then I guess Prestige, American Beauty etc can be considered dark films. What about Dark Knight? I think I saw some reviewers called it a Dark film. But, I did not notice anything negative about Batman. Tragedy untundi ani meaning aa? ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ well, to me dark movies are just another genre like comedy or chick flicks. These are movies that have a component of overall sad/tragic/lousy tendencies. Most of the time we see movies in which we see the positive traits of people. In "the prestige" you see two people who are obsessive compulsive about one upping the other one somehow and in the end they won't even mind destroying each other. In "insomnia" we see guit and coverup as the prevalent themes and the end result of that whole thing is not a happy one. I hope I explained that well enough. Otherwise elca will be here soon enough to correct me :-) | ||
