if i buy a laptop with hdmi slot and i connect laptop-tv thru just hdmi cable

Adhi saripothundi. HDMi is best for sending audio/video from laptop to tv. Depending on laptop/tv models, we may need to tweak some settings. But, overall ga pani chestundi.

Old laptop undhi bro. So vista/7 lo undey media player ledhu. I was trying to avoid PS3 or XBOX.

Manamu ikkada issue debug chestunnamu to see what is the culprit. So, get a vista/7 laptop from a friend and connect to your network (router). See if you can play the video in WMP from Tversity. If it is successful, you know that streaming part is correct. You need to figure out what transcoding profile is required for TV. Look into TV manual and find what are the accepted video formats.

If you can not play in laptop that means your streaming is not working. You need to check the settings again.

Simba:

Nee setup almost ardham ayyindi, except TV lo ela play chestunnavu?

VLC streaming -> Tversity Library -> client (??)}

VLC --> TVersity --> TV

Simba:

Try windows media player (vista/7) or any DLNA client like PS3 lo same thing play cheyyi. If it does not play, that means there is problem with VLC streaming.

Old laptop undhi bro. So vista/7 lo undey media player ledhu. I was trying to avoid PS3 or XBOX.

Simba:

I think you are using command-line to start the vlc streaming. In stead, open vlc player, choose Media->Streaming..., Add media to stream, click stream, click Next. On that options panel, check 'Active Transcoding' and select a profile and start streaming.

Menu lo nunchey chestunna.

Simba:

For a given file, try couple of different profiles (which transcodes to different formats) and see if client can play the streaming video. Note down the profile that works for you. Next time, you can start vlc command-line with right profile.

DVI, WMV/WMA ila 2-3 profiles try chesaanu. Nenu anukovadam naa TV model 46b750 ki tversity lo edho settings change cheyalemo ani. I mean, I had to edit profiles.xml in TVersity to get any video/audio/image playing on the TV. But ee streaming through VLC maatram pani cheyatledhu.

I even tried changing the setting in TVersity to "Always Transcode". That doesn't work either.

Simba:

Yes, with streaming pause, rewind, FF may not work. One vlc streaming panel, click 'Show more options' and bump up the caching time to increase the buffer size. This will ease the streaming on client.

Caching time tip try chestaanu.

PlayOn software lo streaming links ichey option ledhu.

TV itself has the capability to stream..new model tvs

Wow. how does it connect to router? Ethernet or wifi?

Usually, these TVs have limited capability to play different media types. So, we need to transcode the video in the format it understands.

Ye online streaming? Netflix aa? LG tv ayithe already integrated with netflex. So, we just have to connect the internet cable directly to the TV. I am not sure if this feature is available on other TVs.
