Rosaiah prefers Indra Reddy to Gandhi Chief Minister Y S Rosaiah claims himself to be a true Gandhian, but he has proved it otherwise. May be he can call himself Sonia Gandhian. Succumbing to the pressures of Home Minister Sabita Reddy and the local Congress leaders, Rosaiah on Sunday announced that the Langer House flyover would be named after her husband and former home minister P Indra Reddy. The flyover connects the Langer House area to the road leading to Indra Reddy’s native place Chevella. However, there have been several representations to the government in the past to name the flyover after Mahatma Gandhi, since it passes across the Gandhi Memorial, where there is a Samadhi of Gandhiji’s ashes. The place is called Sangam – where two rivers Musi and Isa merge with each other. The government had constructed a big memorial for Mahatma Gandhi there. So, the local people were demanding that the flyover should be called “Mahatma Gandhi Flyover.” The state government agreed to the demand in the past, but thanks to the pressure from Sabita, Rosaiah changed his mind and named the flyover after Indra Reddy. |
