Hyderabad teenager S Yadaiah, who set himself ablaze near Osmania University entrance on Saturday, died of 85% burns at 11:50pm the same day, said authorities at the hospital where he was being treated. Yadaiah (19) was buried in his native Nagaram village in Ranga Reddy on Sunday afternoon.

A forensic expert from the Osmania General Hospital performed post-mortem on the teenager's body at the corporate hospital. At 3.30 am, the body, accompanied with police escort, was taken to Nagaram to prevent any flare-up. Last month, the campus had erupted in violence after an MBA student Venugopal Reddy's charred body was found.

Describing Yadaiah as a martyr, politicians paid rich tributes to the youngster. BJP's Bandaru Dattatreya, T Harish Rao and Nayani Narasimha Reddy of TRS, Devender Goud of TDP, T JAC convener Professor Kodandaram, MRPS president M Krishna Madiga and Gaddar were among the thousands who recalled his sacrifice.

There was mild tension at about 9.30 am when all arrangements were made to take out the funeral procession. Alleging that the police were forcing the family members to cremate the body early, Telangana activists blocked the road of the village.

The agitators also prevented Congress leader Kodanda Reddy and TDP MLA Mahender Reddy from speaking about Yadaiah. Calling them "traitors", the protesters shouted slogans asking them to "go back". The leaders had to leave with police escort.

Finally, Yadaiah's body was lowered in the grave in the presence of villagers and thousands of Telangana supporters at around 2.30 pm.

Yadaiah, who lost his parents in childhood and finished SSC from a orphanage in Saroornagar, worked at Satya Bar and Restaurant in Kothapet.

In real life you see cases where a frustrated few living irrelevant lives commit suicide with the sole purpose of destroying the peace in some other people's lives to gain some relevance and cheap attention. In the case of suicides for telangana,These people are not frustrated because telangana is not formed. They are generally frustrated with their lives . Giving a telangana signature to the suicide will make it into noble martyrdom. The political machine is also abetting these suicides.

The Movement is Lead by the Politically Unemployed and being given active support by anyone who is unemployed in any field or unhappy with life or is henpecked. It has become a nice outlet for the frustrated. The demoralized and frustrated in Andhra and Seema regions should also get some reason to release all their frustrations.

He is still a 10th class student, not an unemployed degree holder to be frustrated about not getting a job. Why did he take the drastic step of taking his life for the sake of jobs?

It happened once again.

On 20th February, a student Yadaiah attempted suicide by setting himself ablaze in the Osmania University campus in full public view. Minutes after he was shifted to the hospital, the Telangana agitators started waving his life-size photographs. Even copies of his 'suicide note' reached the scores of reporters covering the violence in the OU campus. While Yadaiah's love for Telangana is undisputable, I suspect whether he willingly attempted suicide.

At least I don't want to believe that Yadaiah's suicide bid was a spontaneous reaction. The authorities need to find answers for: who were all aware that he would attempt suicide; who were possessing the suicide note and why; when, how and who brought his life-size photographs in the campus and how the media representatives got access to his suicide note even before the police got it and why did he choose the place where the media cameras were present. The suicide bid was perfectly planned and timed in order to get maximum publicity. But who planned it?

So far, over a dozen students committed suicide 'demanding Telangana', but circumstantial evidences tell a different story. Almost all of them wrote similar text in their 'suicide notes' complaining of delay in formation of Telangana state. In all cases, media got access to the suicide note before the police got them. The authorities should find out if somebody was trying to exploit the sentiments of Telangana students by abetting them to commit suicide.

Another factor that needs to be probed is the source of funding for this agitation. It takes millions of rupees to run a small political campaign, take election for an assembly seat for example. Therefore, one can imagine the kind of money that is being spent on organising rallies and public meetings in 10 districts of Telangana for over two months. It is therefore, impossible that students, who survive on pocket-money given by parents or scholarships, are self-financing the movement. There are certainly external sources of funding for the entire movement. Who are those financiers and why are they spending money to instigate violence?

Though there are different theories floating around as to why Telangana agitation got such intensity, but the present pace of movement is all set to cause financial loss to many big politicians who also own huge businesses in Hyderabad. There are unconfirmed reports that those politicians are spending huge money to sabotage the movement. On the other hand, some other politicians from Andhra believe that they would gain if Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated as it would necessitate the creation of a new capital. Building a completely new infrastructure would mean business of crores of rupees for their companies. May be either of these two categories of politicians are funding the movement.

Back to Telangana, forcing the elected representatives of Telangana region to resign from their post is the most unique and interesting feature of this agitation. More than a strategy to put pressure on the UPA Government to concede Telangana, it looks like a tactic by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi to increase its tally in both the State Assembly and Lok Sabha. Assume that all MLAs and MPs from Telangana belonging to all parties resign (and their resignations get accepted). Consequently, either the Rosaiah Government would fall leading to dissolution of assembly or fresh polls or the President's Rule is imposed to facilitate by-election on Telangana seats. Since TRS is spearheading the Telangana movement, it would simply sweep the by-elections.

Lastly, after hunger strikes, dharnas, resignations, rallies and even 'forced suicides', some politicians are now also trying to communalise the issue. The process has already begun in some rural areas. A group of Muslim youth was physically attacked in Nizamabad when they refused to join a pro-Telangana rally and chant 'Jai Telangana'.

Is your community supporting separate Telangana? This question is not being asked to Reddys, Kammas, Kapus, Velamas, SCs, STs, Christians, Sikhs or any other community. But almost all Muslims in Andhra Pradesh are being forced to answer this? Those living in Hyderabad are bravely maintaining silence; a few of them living in other Telangana districts are expressing support while those in coastal Andhra are openly opposing Telangana. Since Muslims constitute about half of the total population in Hyderabad, they have remained neutral to the whole issue following the dictate of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen. Of course, some less known and politically irrelevant groups have floated some Joint Action Committees (JACs). Meanwhile, breaking its tradition, the Jamaat-e-Islami-e-Hind organised a public meeting in Hyderabad in support of Telangana.

To conclude, the agitation for separate Telangana is proving to be a deadly game being played by politicians for their own gains. One professor thinks that he is creating Taliban of Telangana while another politician wants to emerge as the 'father of Telangana'. The others politicians just want to gain out of this situation. The only victims are the students who are being used as pawns by everyone.

After Venugopal Reddy, today it was Yadaiah and tomorrow it may be someone else. Students should understand this politics and stop getting exploited. They can still continue their peaceful agitation for Telangana.

As the Telangana agitation intensified, the home department in the state is suspecting Maoist involvement in the violence over splitting of Andhra Pradesh.

The ministry fears that Maoist elements, disguised as human rights activists, could be instigating students at Osmania University in Hyderabad, according to sources. However, the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University refuted the home department's claim saying there was no concrete information about the presence of Maoists in the university campus, which is the hotbed of the Telangana stir.

The home ministry's doubts came even as the student Siripuram Yadaiah, who had set himself ablaze while raising pro-Telangana slogans in Hyderabad on Saturday, succumbed to his burns. A note found in his bag said the government was not responding to the demand for Telangana. "People like me will get jobs if Telangana state is formed. I am giving life for Telangana and please don't stop this movement till Telangana is achieved," it said. He had poured petrol over himself amid a student-police clash on the university premises.

Though the faculty of the Osmania University has requested students to return to classes and prepare for examinations, the students have said they will go ahead with their agitation till their demand for Telangana is met. Last week, the Supreme Court had stayed AP High Court's direction for withdrawal of paramilitary forces from Osmania University campus, Meanwhile, CPM, which is opposed to bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, has also become a target of the pro-Telangana agitators. A group of protestors pelted stones at the vehicle of CPM MLA J Ranga Reddy in Nalgonda town. The Miryalguda MLA escaped unhurt.

The slogan-shouting agitators, several of whom were students, demanded his resignation for the cause of Telangana. The police dispersed the protestors by resorting to lathi-charge. One agitator sustained injuries during the lathi-charge and six of them were taken into preventive custody.

In Mahabubnagar, ABVP activists held a protest demanding resignation of TDP MLA K Dayakar Reddy. The protesters held a protest in front of a guesthouse where the MLA was staying, a police official said.

Earlier, assailing the February 16 high court order, senior counsel Harish Salve appearing for the state had said: "We have a strong perception that Maoists have infiltrated the university and are creating trouble." He had said the recent killing of police personnel in West Bengal and Naxalite violence in Chhattisgarh and other places were clear indications that Maoists are behind the largescale violence being witnessed in Andhra Pradesh, which is part of the red corridor.

He had said authorities have enough video evidence to prove that the agitation was not student-driven as projected by the protagonists of the movement.
