Teradata is hot tammi, there is no comparison with any other data. walamart, SBC, Lowes, Cingular, Sprint, Bank of America are all huge Teradata installations. These are all huge huge database > 30TB up to 500TB. for smaller databases 2TB-10TB(stretching) Oracle is ok. | ||

if you compare them both oracle is better . sql server scalability issues. small-medium is ok for sql server. again any database is as good as the way its designed. you would be better of with oracle in that case. seap ga vachindi ani MS ki velte taruvata savale. SQL server fans unte please excuse me. | ||

yep, teradata lo work chesey vaallu telusu naaaku. costly affair. we have to hire from their consultants anukunta kadha. In general, SQL server vs Oracle edhi better. we have oracle as standard, but want to have some performance metrics to objectively decide. | ||

vow you are moving away from sybase. teradata, db2 are other options but teradata is expensive and requires deep pockets. according to me sybase beats oracle on performance any day but thats just my experience anyway. the choice of database again depends - on the type of operations you support - budget - resources available to support it and future support, maintenance lot of it depends on combination of things. if you are talking about huge volumes of data in the order of millions of rows and large data to be loaded in to the data warehouse then 'Teradata' kicks a$$ oracle will not scale. | ||
