And the most of all the one thing that makes formation of Telangana difficult is:

None of the states that were formed took away existing capital city with them. And of all none of the parts that demand seperate states have a capital city in thier part.

âTelangana formation bound to be difficultâ

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader M. Shashidhar Reddy said that statehood for Telangana could take more time by recalling that Chhattisgarh came into being six years after the Madhya Pradesh Assembly adopted an unanimous resolution to that effect.

Initiating the debate on the Governorâs address in the Assembly on Thursday, Dr. Reddy, said the demand for separate Chhattisgarh existed since 1924 when the Raipur unit of the Congress adopted a resolution to that effect. It was only 70 years later on March 8, 1994, that the MP Assembly adopted a resolution, paving the way for formation of Chhattisgarh along with Jharkhand and Uttaranchal in 2000.

He said compared to Chhattisgarh, the formation of Telangana was bound to be âmore difficultâ because there was no consensus across the political spectrum on dividing the State. The Centre had constituted the Srikrishna Committee but some MLAs resigned protesting its terms of reference even though their leaders earlier stated that they were prepared to wait till 2014 for the formation of Telangana.

The Congress member regretted that some Telangana leaders were misleading students by giving them a wrong impression that a separate State was possible overnight and appealed to them not to incite students and, instead, extend cooperation in safeguarding their academic year.

Dr. Reddy contended that there were some âoutsidersâ behind the agitation for Telangana, saying it was these elements that damaged shops at Punjagutta in the city when TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao was receiving treatment in NIMS. Some students had themselves told him this when he went to NIMS on that day, he said.
