DCs to skip IPL if home matches are not back in AP

Mumbai, Feb 15 (PTI) Deccan Chargers today threatened to sue the Indian Premier League authorities and skip the third edition of the Twenty20 league beginning next month if its home matches are not re-allotted to Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.

Lashing out at the IPL Governing Council's "unilateral" decision -- because of the ongoing Telengana agitation -- to shift the matches to Navi Mumbai and Nagpur, Deccan Chargers chairman V Shankar told PTI that the Hyderabad-based franchisee would move the court if its demand is not met by the IPL governing council which meets on March 12.

"The IPL has taken a unilateral decision to shift all our home matches out of Andhra Pradesh though Chief Minister K Rosiah, Sports Minister K Venkat Reddy and the DGP have assured us full protection in the conduct of these matches," Shankar said.

Deccan Chargers send legal notice to BCCI

Mumbai: Deccan Chargers today slapped a legal notice on the Indian Premier League and threatened to skip the third edition of the Twenty20 league beginning next month if its home matches are not re-allotted to Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.

In a legal notice sent to BCCI president Shashank Manohar, Deccan Chargers' solicitors have asked the cash-awash league's authorities to reconsider their decision of relocating the home matches of the defending champions to Hyderabad and Vishakapatnam.

The notice claimed that the decision to shift the matches have been taken "arbitrarily, unilaterally, without our client's consent and in complete breach of the Franchise Agreement dated April 10, 2008 pursuant to which the rights and obligations of both the parties i.e. BCCI-IPL and the Franchisee, i.e. our client are governed".
