Bindas is the debut film as director for Veeru Potla. He joins the league of Sreenu Vytla and Co who are known for dishing out entertaining dramas with comedy as the leading quotient. For Manoj, this is one truly, genuinely good movie and it would be an understatement if one had to say this would be the so far decent effort in the Manchu family. No divide and rule statement this. One because Manoj doesnât repeat his mistakes. He doesnât make his dimple obvious like he did in Prayanam, never tries to dominate the character beside him but helps the director spread the butter evenly all over the story. The first fifteen minutes is a bit trying, you wonder what this character is all about, what he is trying to convey or why he behaves the way he does but as the film progresses he makes the job easier for the audience. The entire credit must go to Veeru Potla for directing an ensemble cast, a large one to arrive at a climax that is not clichéd and then to Manoj for keeping the quality of a the character coherent throughout the filmâ¦a little silly, a little comic and violent when it gets necessary. Even the dances are in tune with his role. Brahmanandam does come a bit later, he does his own funny act but the first half is completely Manojâs. Even if it is supported by Brahmanandam and Raghu Babu in the later half it is Manoj all the way. The dialogues, the one liners crackle at regular intervals and also at times when you donât expect them. This is not a great movie, it has the same old plot of two political rivals/faction families and the hero uniting them towards the end but what makes it stand out is Veeruâs treatment. The screenplay is good though the story stretches some times, especially the chases. Nothing is over the top, even the comedy has just the right dose making it a decent watch. The hero ofcourse has learnt or has gone through the practice of high jumps, sprints , jumping over the walls in Nenu Meeku Telusa. Sheena is petite, a woman of small built, pretty, vivacious looks but her short sleeved blouses are irritating to watch. She is fine for a first film and could do a Genelia if she smiles or sulks. The director is capable of doing a much better job but as of now he is definitely successful. Ahuti, JP, Subbu Raju, Bharat and the rest of the gang are all good in their roles. Suragani is a sprightly number. The camera work is a huge minus. Just bear the first few minutes of the film to enjoy the rest of it. The ending of the film has Sunil blowing the trumpet of the director which could have been avoided. Otherwise, Bindas is the same salad tossed around with seasoning in different quantities. It does tickle your taste buds.

Bottom Line: âBindaasâ is a film which might have taken the tried and tested path, but it also entertains you to a great extent. Veeru Potlaâs directorial debut has all the facets of a good writer and a promising director in the making. More than anything else, he makes a strong impression with his story-telling which hardly gives you space and time to think while watching the film. Manchu Manoj Kumar also compliments Veeru Potlaâs style of story-telling and the former has put in a great deal of effort especially in the action sequences. Of course, the film is slightly predictable especially in the second half and it does have its share of fallacies, but Veeru manages to hold the film till the very end. On the whole, âBindaasâ is a good entertainer and this âAjay gaadi Vijaya Gathaâ is worth watching. Thumbs up for Manoj and Veeru Potlaâs âBindaasâ
