Humpty_dumpty:how ? for 200K house property taxes - 3K( depending on state) closing costs as said by TI paid by seller, even they dont cost more than 6K... now u also get 8K govt credit at the same time if you are renting u pay around 15K per yr... provided in the worst case u need to go out of country perm. and u dont own significantly on the house...u can always refinance and take cash on house...in the current market its not bokka fr buyer
Home Insurance, PMI insurance -> if you don't put 20 % down, Lawn maintenance -> if you have some Yard infornt of your house Utility bills --> Much Electric bills etc, as you live in a big house HOA fees ---> If you live in a Community you need to pay HOA fees, Add to this the regular maintenace to the home, and houses losing value and intrests you pay to bank, In short --> not worth -> |

If you buy condo in a good area (close to metro or university) you can get good rentals most of the time. This works out best with your R2I plans. The market now is a good market to buy a condo. If you buy at the peak market then condo is a lousy idea. A lot of my friends bought a condo before leaving for India and are managing them to rental property management companies. Pros: Cheapest of all kinds of real estate Easy to rent out for the most part of the year Not many maintenance issues - you can manage from afar with rental management company and couple of condo warranty purchases. Cons: Resale value is typically low condo fee - keeps on going up, will never go down Buy a top floor unit or townhome style unit so you don't have neighbor issues. |

USA lo house konavu ante.. there are some basic things You are tied to one location and if you are h1b then you are going to loose many opportunities becoz of location. House is not good unless your going to hold it for atleast 10 years. else you would loose not less than 50k House antha bagunte ok but if some thing goes wrong with any structure of the house then you would be spending thousands of dollars for repairs and other things. Finally ni visa issues. if something goes wrong you have to just drop keys and file foreclosure. enno untai..just home owner ani seppukovadaniki.. as Ravino said just be in aprtment and get ride of this all Papayya |

I don't want to feel "my home" when I am 68 and after my kids are out on their own. So I decided, dump the H1B, H4, 485, 131, 761, 797, 999, 888, I94, EAD, AP... Condo or townhome is definitely good idea if he payment is just couple of 100s more than renting 2/3 bed room apartment. U get tax benefit plus u will have something after x number of years. definitely if u move then u can give for rent but it all depends on the city u are living etc |

Tammudu, Ee market lo RE is a risk investment. If you can hold it for long, then it is a very good investment. Market conditions/stats prakaaram, market bottom reach ainatte unless another wave of foreclosures come and flood the market. Take all these things into consideration before you invest. Yes, THs are better bet than condos, except for certain locations where it does not matter what type of house it is. :-) |
