If the electoral system similar to UK, US or India is followed in this election....merkels CDU won almost 80 percent.... So 204 seats are won by CDU...and absolute majority should have achieved.... But due to proportional representation....and 5 percent threshold..you see 7 parties represented in the parliament... Without which there would be just 3 parties in parliament. The system is deliberately built that way.... Most countries have a system of government called...proportional representation..... Take the arguments of TDP guys in this DB.....on YCP guys in 2014.... We got 40 percent is what TDP says....YCP said 2 percent vote difference.....Janasena said we got 7 percent votes..... But they are not represented based on their votes in the assembly...instead represented as a constituent member of a seat..... Here most countries have constituencies but follow the proportional representation.....so even the lost candidate with 40-45 percent vote goes to assembly..... But there is a threshold of 5 to 10 percent to enter the parliament... Every party which got the 5 percent will be represented.....in this way everyone’s voice is heard.... I am a member of greens in Germany and D66 in Netherlands....if the constituency system without proportional representation is followed....then no party would have entered their respective parliaments despite 10 to 20 percent vote shares... Merkel would have won 80 percent of seats in German parliament Bundestag...... But due to proportional representation there is a diversity..... This is created as a check for autocratic dictatorships of WW1 and WW2 and decades that followed it...... More parties mean more voice and representation for grievances... You’re worrying too much about Putin..... In countries like Russia, central leadership had a key role in building institutions of control....unlike decentralized bodies in Western Europe.... Putin is getting older max another decade to 15 years.... You know what had happened to Stalin ?? Stalin is replaced by liberal kurschev .....who even thought of making Russia a capitalist nation with trade....but he destalinzed the countries reliance on central authority for every work..... He is replaced by Brezhnev who is more authoritarian but still kurchev thing proceeded.... As the younger generation replaced the older, you had seen Gorbachev....who saw the older ways as archaic and replaced more liberal systems....which ultimately lead to collapse of union and Cold War..... Oh forgot to add a point.... Europe has SEPA system....instantaneous payment transfer....for within 28 EU... It is trying to build a similar system for all around world....to replace SWIFT of USA.... May be....but now there is more awareness than before around the world with dispersion of communication media..... USA would be seen as a bully and image would be carried forward.... Already I see a lot of anti USA sentiment rising in Europe due to trumps politics.... Greens around Europe don’t want a trade with USA at all....similarly France under marcon want to cutoff trades with USA till it has the same environmental standards as Europe .....( because there is carbon tax in Europe which make polluting industries pay price) USA don’t have a system of such sort, trade is uneven ....because France thinks the regulatory framework of environmental standards can’t be applied on USA goods, as they are imported... All many needs is a trigger point....Iran war may just be it.... It will cement opinions of many young around the world...who will be in future policy making....then USA leverage would have an impact..... Well it will backfire....any action against Iran will be seen as the USAs aggression against the Shias in the world....
