Having a bit of GOT hangover...I started watching the show five years ago...binge watched the first 2 seasons three days straight without much sleep...never before saw a tv show with such magnanimity - outstanding dialogues, digital art (their depiction of Quarth was out of the world), music, cinematography. They maintained the quality till 3rd season...but started going down from 4th...I think the show's charm started fading away slowly after Tywin's death...even then there were some great episodes afterwards...but last two seasons were blunders...the writers should have gone for at least one more season or more episodes per season....most of the poor writing can be attributed to their attempt to rush the story line which they didnt have to especially when HBO were totally fine to extend the seasons. Their blunders peaked last episode when they transformed a dearly loved character to an evil one without justification. My favorite artist in the entire show was Charles Dance who played Tywin...he was superb in that role. and my favorite character was obviously Ned stark for his integrity. About yesterday's episode though, I think Jon should be the King, because its in his blood..half stark and half targariyan...more importantly people love him...Bran wont last a winter with his inexperience... End of long ride. I am not exactly sure what all has happened, and like all good stories, as time goes on we will see new things every time we revisit the story. Danerys - what a sad or unfortunate character, a girl who had no family, friends from the day she was born - her every trust has been repaid with a broken promise and personal loss.. was heading to one more betrayal. But strangely feels like that is a better death for her, than any other way - if it were going to happen. Jon - Another character - who grew up with a broken identity - always burning for a sense of belonging some where.. who at the age of 14 decides to take the black, because there all brothers are a family .... ends up killing two women who he loves.... going to live his rest of his line exile. Bran - Its interesting by the end, he gets CHOSEN as the king of westeros. There is no guarantee that he would be a good one - as he does not seem to appreciate human emotions like others around - but that also means, he may not succumb to pressures from human weaknesses that typically are associated with power people OR "was this the game of three eyed raven .. all along. becoming the ruler of westeros" .. who knows. Drogon burning down the the iron throne is probably symbolic of what Dany wanted.... Dany forgives Jon, and moves on. Sansa getting North as a seperate kingdom - with a subtle hint that she wont backdown from another war, if westeros wants North to bow down... shows she DID learn good deal from Cersei. Arya - staying true to her words to her father... I am NOT a lady.. living that way Tyrion - looks like he is the true ruler.. | ||
