India lo manam perigina env. laaga ikkada athletics is not limited to 1 or 2 sports like cricket if they kid is really interested , then invest your time and money I read about a high school desi kid last week she is top in age group speed skating across the nation next attempt trying for youth olympics she is a straight As student runs her own non-profit/community service kid (and mom) spend 30 plus hours a week for last 6-7 years obviously , no one in her household knew abt the sport i wouldn't be surprised if she ends up in a top school a well rounded profile makes a big diff... although not all can do it just need to open up ...who knows ...what lies beneath | ||

Anything kid should stand out from the crowd, GPA, SAT, ACT, scores are pretty common to all the applicants in top, but clearly there should be something that stands out from rest of the kids that school should feel he will be an asset to school and cant miss him. Until they feel that, they wont offer anything to the student, to ensure him to come to the school. Getting admission probably has better chances, but admission with good scholarship means student need to really have something really outstanding achievement or something that stands out from rest of crowd in that pool of applications. Hmm. Sports lo mana desi kids ki anta scene ledu... as it gets very competitive at high school level. Does chess help? What about our Indian classical music, dance etc? Will they add "some" weight? Don't say you don't have enough time. Having said that ...... Purdue lo first semester chaala rigorous gaa untundhi. Purdue gives way too many admissions as well. First year General subjects lo, in a single class, they may have students up to 350-400 as well (yes, in one classroom). If the student is not focussed in the initial days, they struggle a lot. you do your research on your own as well. naaku thelisindhi nen chepthunnaa, as I live close to Purdue. | ||

Which Univ and what Major vs what else? Purdue Engineering top 5 lo untadhi Harvard around 20th in Engineering. But to get into Purdue, it is very easy. To get into Harvard, very difficult Still, kids prefer joining Harvard, IF they get admission. maa Indiana residents ki, Purdue tuition is 10K, whereas Harvard may be 50-60K but if a kid gets into Harvard, he/she will not join Purdue. Harvard is Harvard. Their potential is much higher than Purdue. Now coming to is it worth part ..... is it worth living in 800K homes or driving 100K cars? compared to 250K homes or 25K cars | ||
