A post from my friend This is a brilliant initiative by a close friend of mine here in Hyderabad. Over the last 10 years he has picked up kids from the local government schools and trained them to excel in the sport of sailing. The Youngs kids from the yacht club of Hyderabad currently hold 5 of the top 7 ranks at the national levels for the boys and 9 of the top 18 ranks among the girls. This is for the Optimist class of boats for sailing. He has already churned out 3 national champions. So he has opened up the so called elitist sport of sailing to these kids and they are proving themselves out there in the open seas in boats which are a little bigger than bathtubs. The aim is to give them dignity and a better life through sports. 6 of the earlier boys have been absorbed into the Navy and the Army through the sport of sailing. Worth a watch and pass it on to anyone who wants to help in doing their bit in uplifting the lives of the young children and giving them dignity through sport. Cheers | ||
