His ex-girlfriend, who appeared in federal court Tuesday, also is charged with participating in the murder-for-hire plot. Narsan Lingala, 55, is charged with one count of murder-for-hire, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer in federal court and was held without bail. Lingala's ex-girlfriend, Sandya Reddy, 52, appeared before Hammer on the same charge and also was detained, according to the news release. The case is now being handled on the federal level. The inmate indicated he knew a person, according to Carpenito's release. The following month at the direction of law enforcement, the inmate introduced Lingala to an undercover officer posing as a hitman. Over several weeks Lingala and the alleged hitman spoke on the telephone and planned to meet in person when Lingala traveled from Indiana to New Jersey, the release states. When Lingala and Reddy arrived outside the mall they approached the undercover hitman, and the three entered the hitman's vehicle where they had a conversation that was video recorded, according to the news release. The undercover hitman asked Lingala to confirm what he wanted him to do. “I want that woman to be out of my life ... totally. Never again. She never comes back,” Lingala said, according to the news release. Lingala and his former wife, a North Brunswick resident, married in December 1995, had two children before Lingala filed for divorce in May 2011. Lingala then spent several years unsuccessfully contesting the financial terms of the matrimonial settlement agreement, according to a court ruling. End of story.” Lingala responded, “Yeah. End of story,” according to the news release. As part of the conversation, Lingala allegedly gave the undercover hitman information about the intended victim, including his ex-wife’s full name, home address, age and home phone number. He also described the entrances to and layout of her home; the name of the company where she worked; and the timing and details of her work commute, according to the news release. Lingala also allegedly showed the undercover hitman photos of the exterior and interior of his ex-wife’s home, while Reddy also allegedly provided the undercover hitman with information about the intended victim, according to the news release. |
