states neglected or rather not thought of long term plans for agriculture..cos long term plans will not fetch them votes.. Short term cash benefits,loan waivers will give them instant gratification which will turn to votes..where as a sustainable and effective solution like building a irrigation project or implementation modern farming techniques,crop management,marketing,processing plants etc are time intensive and may not benefit political parties in the immediate term During Nehru/Indira period most of the big Irrigation ,educational (IITs) and PSU were established..cos they felt no threat politically and nver had political compulsions or pressure for sake of retaining seats/votes as now.The they were sure of ruling for more terms and had a long term vision for the country | ||
