While that can mislead nikkars, the underlying despair in the economy can't be hidden. Two NSSO members resigned yesterday as they were being sidelined, the ostensible reason came out today. The govt. is not releasing the jobs data that the NSSO worked on. Currently we are at a 45 year high in unemployment and within this, the unemployment in the youth is upwards of 20%. Further within India, i am sure this youth unemployment in the Cowbelt is upwards of 40%. For those interested in reading further, do read this book called Dreamers by Snigdha Poonam. It shows the scary situation among the unemployed youth, though her survey and interactions were largely among the cowbelt.
