I797A is your official h1 approval notice, and 797 will be sent to your attorney for his records. so you will get your 797a within 2 weeks | ||

same thing happened to my wife.. she got i797c when transferring from company A to B... both FTE. i-94 with Company A was valid for one more year when the transfer was approved. We checked with the company's attorney and a couple of others outside and all of them advised us to leave the country immediately and get stamp with new I797. They said there are no specific rules on this and they were like its better to be safe than sorry. Funny thing is the company's attorney didn't even notice it was C instead of A and my wife didn't know the difference between the two. I noticed it by accident after a couple of months of approval/job change and that's when we actually contacted attorneys. She went into India within a couple of weeks of this discussion and got it stamped without any issues. | ||
