I prefer cherrypy as both app and webserver as it is simpler than Django....this is python based...I prefer cherrypy over Django...but my suggestion is to use Django as app server and cherrypy as webserver....no issues in scaablity...we are supporting a site with more than 100k concurrent users of course with load balancing .. As mentioned in the first post, it is not e-commerce type portal. No transactions other than users signing up for free / premium membership not much since it will be niche market place for specific use case. May be around 500-1000 / day to start with... I would rather go with Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce to build my first store or market place if things are looking good, I would invest time building my own website and scale it

What is the best language/platform to build a commercial (market place type) website ? ASP.NET or PHP I tried googling and everyone seem to have their own opinion like apple vs android lot of ppl said PHP can not scale like asp.net but then some said FB is based on PHP and we know its scale.
