Correct article dorakatledhu but the issue is that the West realized that their consumption of resources wouldn't sustainable if the Third World kept growing at the same pace. And after WWII and decolonization, there was fear of many of these densely populated countries. That's one of the reasons the World Bank was created. A lot of World Bank aid is tied to mandatory family planning policies. There was an Indian economist (can't remember the name) who argues World Bank's family planning policies are the reason for the gender disparities in India.
