HC orders deletion of two scenes in Telugu film TNN | Jun 29, 2013, 05.07 AM IST HYDERABAD: Months after the film completed its run in the theatres in the state, Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy of the AP High Court on Friday directed the censor board to take steps to remove two 'offensive' and 'vulgar' scenes from the Telugu film 'Denikaina Ready'. The judge expressed deep concern at the growing trend of pressure groups reacting violently in the name of their 'sentiments' being hurt as well as the silence of the state. The judge partly allowed the batch of writ petitions filed by Chakkilam Raghunatha Rao and Dronamraju Ravi Kumar of A P Brahmana Seva Samakhya. The petitioners sought cancellation of certificate issued by the censor board to the film. They identified nine scenes which they said showed Brahmins in poor light and hurt the feelings of the community purposely. The judge refused to cancel the certificate issued by the film censor board but ordered deletion of two scenes. The judge found them to be offensive and vulgar. In his 20-page order, the judge analyzed each of the nine alleged objectionable scenes. The movie 'Denikaina Ready' was released on September 28, 2012. |
