Hmm - read some more on the Cotard syndrome and Cotard's delusion - and some interesting correlations and memories from childhood popped up in my mind bairaagi baba's ani cheppevallu - hang around near smasaanams,without food and water, with no heed for their personal condition, mumbling to themselves with episodes of lucidity ...

Now reading the wiki on Cotard's syndrome and cotard's delusion - the symptoms described fit very closely ..

Cotard's syndrome, a mysterious psychiatric condition marked by "the fixed and unshakable belief that one has lost organs, blood or body parts" or has no soul, according to a definition in a 2003 report in the journal Neurology.
