First lo Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Society (GWTCS) ani undedi since 1974. 2004 lo elections time lo godavalu jarigi oka kotta association form ayyindi - Capital Area Telugu Society (CATS) in April 2006. Then, malla GWTCS lo adhipatya poru lo idi kooda split ayyindi. Then there was a battle for the seal. Odipoyina atanu malla oka association form chesedu taking the name and logo of Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Society (GWTCS). Therefore, the original GWTCS had to replace the word Society with Sangham. Now we have two GWTCS in VA/MD/DC area. Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Sangham (1974) Greater Washington Telugu Cultural Society (2011/12) Varadhi was formed by some former members of CATS in 2013. | ||

For majority of the people who know GWTCS, it is the only one that is associated with TANA and that serves all of the region (MD, VA, and DC) here. The one particular to MD you are talking about, I am not even sure what it is (probably why you said it gets 200 people). Besides, my only point is (and I was just answering NTR_Fan question), there are more than one telugu org in the region here. Goodluck with your org. | ||

There are only one exclusively in MD ,called GWTCS..but that is too small one..they are getting max of 200 ppl..and the other is CATS ,whic is for capital area(VA,DC,MD).. Our VAARADHI is for only MD and was grand successfully with 1300 people in the first event itself.This is bcoz of all our committee efforts..The most imp thing is first time we put "SOLD OUT" tickets for this kid of event in this tri state area..this is record...All I want from MD guys is to get feedback of our celebrations and would like to improve things.. | ||

Hi Guys, Here in MD we found new telugu organisation and celebrated inagural function with Inagural function -Geetha madhuri/sree krishna singers,this is for gathering all telugu communities together to have a stage where our kids can learn telugu culture and learn telugu bhasha.Our slogan is VAARADHI "Bridging communities beyond the boundaries" Please let us know if any marylander or from VA guys heard about this and your feedback on this if you attended our function on April 27th with Geetha madhuri and Sree krishna singers |
