Yes....And VSP is NOT saying that Bayyaram mines will be thier only source - Today thier source is Bailadila mines. The issue is captive mines. If they have thier own captive mines, then the cost of raw mtl (Iron Ore) will be less and hence they become competitive vis a vis TATA steel. Today's VSP's only competitiveness comes from their operational efficiency. | ||

If after a thorough feasibility study and subject to positive ROI, RINL has agreed to set up a mini steel plant at bayyaram - but the mines should be given to RINL as Captive mines, the way Tata Steel has captive mines. t As step 1 - they will set up a benefication plant in bayyaram since the ore is Low Grade, enrich the ore and then send it for refining to VSP Step2 - based on the feasibility report, decide on the setting up of a mini steel plant in Bayyaram itself But these politicians are demanding that the Ore should not be transported to VSP..... Scenario till this GO was issued: The ore belonged to dacoit gang and they were planning to set up a Steel plant in Kadapa based on the Ores they owned in Bayyaram and Obulapuram. And these people who are crying hoarse now did not oppose this DACOIT agreement. | ||

Forget Bob. That is a sub clause in the Govt order....Subject to feasibility study RINL (VSP)should set up a mini Steel plant at bayyaram. Nothing wrong in argument. If it is feasible and the ROI works out then a Steel Plant can be set up at Bayyaram in the long run. Gestation period for a mini steel plant will be 5-6 yrs and for a large plant will be 10 yrs. | ||

A senior VSP official said they are cutting a sorry figure when the States, where they had sought allotment of captive mines (Orissa, Chattisgarh,Jharkand), are asking why AP Government is not giving its own mines to the company. In an important development, INTUC at its working committee meeting held at Nagpur recently, adopted a resolution seeking a ban on export of iron ore, more investments in ore exploration and sanction captive mines to all the domestic steel producers. In the status paper, INTUC national president G. Sanjeeva Reddy stated RINL does not have mines of its own and depends on others for its production. Of over 100 million tonnes produced in the country, 40 per cent is exported. India is rich in deposits and accounts for six per cent of world share. Around 65 million tonnes is used in India and around 100 million tonne was exported in 2009, of which 80 per cent to China. | ||

VSP does not belong to the people of Andhra. It is a Central government undertaking and the steel produced there is supplied to customers all over the world. Even the employees working in VSP are from all over the country....Telugu, tamil, kannda and Hindi are all spoken in the CSP township. The location of the plant is in Visakhapatnam because of the logistic convenience. Similarly if a steel plant is established at Bayyaram, it would not supply steel only to Telangana region. And the employees would not belong to only Telangana. So, it is difficult to justify the demand! | ||

The reaon for setting up a Steel plant in VSP was Proximity to Iron ores in less than 500 Kms..... Proximity to India's largest Sea port in less than 25 Kms.... Proximity to Lus water from Godavari river through Yeleru canal The country's only Shore based Steel plant..and the most mechanised with M2M implemented even in the early 90s...Microprocessors for Industrial use, medha thesis cheyyali ante - VSP was the first choice for Engg Final yr Students from Vizag,Bhimavaram,Eluru, Bapatla, Vijayawada,Machilipatnam,VidyaNagar and Tpt Engg Colleges | ||

CBN is much better than all these jokers...he is showing statesmanship in this regard. Iron Ore and all minerals belongs to the people of the country - and it is national wealth - and preferably should be allocated to profit making efficient PSUs instead of Dacoits...... And BJP and TRS were happy when the allocation was made to dacoits..and now they in the Telangana are opposing this. ante Coastal andhra people are fools anaa valla ardham.... |
