urprising as it might sound, there has not been any reaction from Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao over the Supreme Court verdict in favour of Maharashtra on the Babli project over Godavari river on Thursday. In fact, the TRS leaders had even impleaded in the Supreme Court in the Babli case stating that the project would seriously affect the farmers of Telangana in five districts under the Sriramsagar project ayacut, but except some non-serious reactions from TRS legislator K T Rama Rao and former MP B Vinod Kumar, there was no hue and cry from the party leaders. And KCR preferred to remain mum, even when the Telugu Desam Party and the Telangana Congress leaders reacted strongly. Sources said the reason why KCR had remained silent over the Babli case was his secret understanding with Maharashtra strongman and union minister Sharad Pawar. Apparently, Pawar had wanted KCR not to make a big issue out of Babli, which was only a small project. He assured that he would argue for Telangana state in the UPA, if the TRS remained silent. There are also allegations that KCR had got his âdue shareâ from Maharashtra big man for keeping silent on the project. | ||
