after 2004, tier-2,3 cities lo land value peragadaniki idi oka reason. all blackmoney went into land buying, making it unaffordable for everyone now/////

100% i agree WHY COULDNT THEY DIGITIZE EACH AND EVERY SINGLE LAND RECORD and link the people with aadhaar .

for every land transaction that occured in the last 15 yrs each one need to submit their IT returns for the past 15 yrs when registration value is more than 30 lakhs.

if their IT returns not in synch with the price they bought immediately charge them some tax i.e 30 % on their registration price.

atleast SOME BLACK MONEY will be bought back in to system

also registration price in sync with mkt price should have been started 15 yrs back itself COULD HAVE PREVENTED LOT OF BLACK MONEY.

this budget has nothing for salaried or middle class people.
where are the steps/funds for price stabilization?
no relief from huge direct/indirect taxes paid by salaried people. no slab adjustment.
home loan scheme is gimmick, ridiculing aam admi. "scheme only for this yr. and only for 1yr". incentive la kakunda marketing scheme laga undi on behalf of RE companies. can we get decent house in tier-1,2 cities at this budget.?
One good step is taxing filtht rich (> 1C).
Defense allocation increased. but, no concrete steps for indigenousation. obviously all money will be poured into foreign deals, that too in foreign currency.
long term objectives like organic farming/solar mission/R&D on alternate fuels, nothing was mentioned.

I get a feeling that, no work done at all. only focus is reduce fiscal deficit.

ping out early gains, the BSE benchmark Sensex was trading 124 points lower at midsession on Thursday with investor community hair-splitting various budget proposals like higher taxes on corporates and individuls and reduction in Securities Transaction Tax.

After a higher start at 19,322.28, the Sensex fell sharply by 124.38 poins to 19,028.03 at 1300 hrs as stocks of bank, oil and gas and metal sector declined.

The broad-based Natonal Stock Exchange index Nifty fell by 40.50 points to 5,756.40, after climbing to 5,849.90 at the outset.

Brokers said the budgetary proposals lacked any worthwhile market moving announcement and remained under pressure as some corporates and individual taxes were raised.

They said the tumbling market received little support on lowering of Securities Transaction Tax (STT) on equity futures to 0.01 per cent from 0.17 per cent.

The market even ignored the firming global markets after an overnight rise in the US stocks, they added.

inance Minister P. Chidambaram Thursday proposed a tax cut of Rs.2,000 for people earning an annual income of between Rs.200,000 and Rs.500,000 and said anything beyond that was not possible given the current circumstances.

Watch the Business Today Studio analyse the Budget

Presenting the national budget for 2013-14, the finance minister said any hike in the exemption limit for direct tax that is paid by individuals would take millions out of the tax net and was neither a desirable proposition, nor feasible.

Full Coverage: Budget 2013

Accordingly, he proposed a Rs.2,000 tax credit for those in the first slab.

"This measure will benefit 1.8 crore (18 million) tax payers," he said, adding that this would entail an outgo of Rs.3,600 crore ($650 million) to the exchequer.

Chidambaram said the tax-GDP ratio in the country had slipped to 5.5 percent for direct taxes and 4.4 percent for indirect taxes. "Our tax-GDP ratio is one of the lowest in the world. We should reclaim 11.9 percent tax-GDP ratio in the short term."

For the affluent, the finance minister took the cue from what was proposed as the "super rich tax" by Wipro chairman Azim Premji, and said a surcharge of 10 percent was proposed on the those earning more than Rs.1 crore per annum.

"This surcharge will be for one year," the finance minister said, adding there were some 42,800 people who fell in that bracket. "I am sure, there is a little bit of Azim Premji in everyone and this additional burden will be for one year."
