Operational/logistic costs will be negligible for companies that have moved to collaborative
environments, so no assigned seating , just a project/group area.

There are quiet a few big organizations which are gradually discouraging WFH..

with various reasons and some of them are:
* Senior managers (management) should be onsite - because their bosses (execs) are most of the time on site or they have travel budget to fly whenever they want.. though they fly in they may not have/like the budget of asking their senior managers to fly in
* though companies allow WFH - people still have to come once a week or twice a week to talk to people (facetime is found to have lead to more productivity than otherwise).. these once-twice a week office comers still need a cube/phone etc.. there is a operational/logistic cost associated and when you add the opportunity cost of not having facetime productivity this becomes big
* etc
* etc

thts only official version.......Unoffical gaa everything is fine....

As it turns out, Yahoo's situation may have been different from that of many other tech companies. Nicholas Carlson at Business Insider hears from a source that there are a "huge number" of remote workers in customer service, marketing and engineering, many of whom "weren't productive." For Mayer, the new rule will either force these workers to work in the office, which the company believes will help productivity, or force them to quit, which will help the company cut costs.

This doesn't seem like anything to do with wfh, more like they are trying to weed out the remote folks.
