Glad you did go to a doctor and are sharing that ..The more people come out the better...People in India and from India see it as a stigma to have to visit a psychiatrist or brush it aside as trivial with tragic consequences... Guys, I lost a sister-in-law (cousin's wife ) to depression..she left a 9 month old baby behind and killed herself  But in a similar scenario here I have seen a friend go thru it and recover and get her life back on track from almost the point of self-destruction - Treatment and therapy works ... I have said this before many times in the DB - do NOT hide the problem - share the problem with family and people in your physical vicinity so they can be alert and supportive..and get professional help ... Most of it is self-reporting. They give you a questionnaire with lots of questions that ask you about your emotional state and you get diagnosed based on that. If you consider that a test, I guess it is... At least that's how it was done when I was diagnosed with depression | ||

So did he deduce that based on what you told. I thought ideally he needs to test if you actually do enjoy funny things(even if that is the criteria). | ||

I went to see a doc once for depression consultation. He asked me this, Do you laugh when you see something funny on tele? I said yes and he confirmed that I was not into depression yet but was suffering from self pity. So DB members if you have something bothering you, can you still enjoy fun moments of life? If the answer is no, time for you to see a doc. | ||
