If our compliance policies and laws are not up to the mark what else others can do.

The law did not fail us. The so-called protectors of law failed us.

Anderson, who was in police custody, was flown to Delhi from Bhopal in a Madhya Pradesh govt airplane by the then CM Arjun Singh. We do not have any clue how he left Delhi. Obviously the Indian govt helped him fly from Delhi without any legal problems.

20,000 poor people died and no one gets punished? we cry so much about so called riots or terrorist attacks, but never do the needful to punish the perpetrators of the biggest crime. We have got our priorities seriously screwed up.

We can't blame foriegn entities for screwing us when our own govt, politicians, law makers and people can't stand up for ourselves. Any company be it union carbide or dow they always look for saving money as they are accountable to the share holders. If our compliance policies and laws are not up to the mark what else others can do.
Think abt BP spill, there were few deaths (not discounting them) in the rig but most of the damage was in the sea but still the compnay and CEO are held accountable and even today BP PR is working on fixing it's image and they are still shelling out money to the gulf businessmen.

Arjun Singh also helped this anderson guy from Union carbide that time.....

Anderson flew out of the city on the official plane of Mr Arjun Singh, who was Madhya Pradesh chief minister at that time.

The then chief secretary of Madhya Pradesh Brahm Swaroop called Mr Singh and the Superintendent of Police (SP) seeking Anderson's release, the ex-collector told a television channel. According to him, Mr Swaroop was also asked to arrange a special aircraft to take Anderson, who was the chief executive officer of the Union Carbide Corp, to Delhi. Anderson was arrested along with other officials of the company on December 7, 1984, four days after the gas leak, and released on bail the same day. He flew out of India from Delhi and never returned.

Bhopal victims wont get any justice until Indian politicians stand up for Indians.

I read somewhere, Chidambaram/Kapil Sibal were lawyers who fought for DOW/UC on this case. Obviously, they know how will GoI be positioning itself in the courts.

Till the day India and its power raises, these western countries will not respect India or the right to live - of Indians! Only a great political leadership will have to come to India's rescue.
