Its important to define the term 'real' before digging deeper. There are two different definitions. One is that anything that we currently perceive is real. in other words Perception is reality...momentariness is reality. Its the basic Buddhist philosophy. Second definition would be that impermanence is unreal and permanence is real. Anything that changes or/and can be changed is unreal. If there is such an entity, that is the only reality. Its the basic Vedanthic philosophy. Can humans ever perceive such reality? Several people in the past believed they did. Which definition is true depends on the individual belief. I think, Dualism is more confined to body & mind..For example Plato is a dualistic person who came up with the theory of real & unreal objects...For every dog, there is an idea dog....for every person, there is an ideal person..He believed that after death of a body, soul is implanted in another body and returns back to the world...so, I think plato is a good example of dualistic approach of seeing things...
