one of the cool things i like is the software center.. You dont have to download stuff from the web and wonder if it is safe, you have a list of known software for each type of thing you want to do and download it from there.. even the torrent downloads etc., is super fast compared to windows.. | ||

u can do this...remove the name icon from the top right by right clkicing and remove....then again right click on the top panel and choose add then i think its called notification area..or indicator applet just play with it.. i have had some ubuntu screen issues too since i have started using ubuntu.. when i am logged in.. the screen should show my name in the top right hand corner of the screen and a power icon right next to it.. after using it for a few minutes.. it shows my name twice.. but it has not been a bother so i have learned to live with it.. i am thinking it is a VGA issue.. i should probably invest some money in a decent vga.. my current vga is inbuilt in the mother board. | ||

yes from 2005 not many but some 3rd party prorietary sw or soem sites work only windows let us say the netflix case that ishan said...BUT for normal browsing, programming it works fine. better than windows Veoh is not supported I think... recently ubuntu vadadam start chesa.. have not touched windows for the last week.. seems like a good option.. inka evaraina ila only ubuntu vadutunte.. cheppandi.. please post your experiences.. i would like to learn some tips and tricks.. one of the questions i have always had is about "virus protection" in ubuntu.. i have read some forums etc., they all say the architechture of ubuntu is different from windows so u dont really need antivirus software etc., they say just be careful about what you authorize for installation.. since ubuntu will ask you for a password for each and every install.. |
