the basic structure of marriage is to prevent inbreeding to avoid pooling of recessive genes...all this fuss about going back seven-generations was to avoid prevalence of diseases at least ones that are visible...that's the reason we have moral boundaries(incest) to prevent such things.... | ||

you are totally getting this wrong....this practice is considered wrong bcoz of the genetic anomalies which will be more prevalent...in AP sister's brother can marry sister's daughter but it's considered wrong in many northern states and also this practice if continued for a long time will result in genetic disorders in babies....the rule of not marrying within a gothra was correct in olden times but not these days when people are having marriage relationships from far off places.... and who are these KHAP panchayat people to decide on such maaters...they have no law degree, medical degree and most of these are caste panchayats whose sole purpose is tomaintain caste dominance | ||
