mav bro, ee branding endhuku, i dont care much for cameron or avatar, i call spade a spade, avatar gurinchi na view chepthunna, antha varake, movie manaki nachindha ledha anedhi different point, but the movie is what it is. it is technically brilliant, and the endeavor it takes to accomplish something like it is unbelievable, and so is every technological advancement of this magnitude. whether it was worth the 15 dollars we spent on it, ane dhani meedha i dont comment, as tastes are individualistic.
Venky bro, Gollum is one creature in the movie, alanti characters enni unnayi avatar lo? can you imagine the magintude of effort? now imagine LOTR with avatar's technology, i can only imagine how wonderful it could have been. there is one more thing, in generating a image, usually the details are the most complex part, the tiniest differences in shades, which make the image more realistic, generating a huge image is much more easier and easy to control, with coloring schemes. Now take the huge horses, elephants, or the trees in LOTR, and compare with the coloring schemes in Avatar. In LOTR horses were mostly plain colors, and rarely we get a close up shot of these, which show us the detail of the textural scheme on these, but in Avatar, the close up shots of the horses, show so much coloring scheme, and the movements of those gill like structures on their legs, are like natural creation. The huge trees in LOTR that take revenge on sauron's creation, look lifeless when compared to Pandora. now imagine the same tree's using fusion cameras. I feel it would have been awesome. On most days I would prefer to watch LOTR than Avatar, but to simply say Avatar did not offer anything to cinematic experience, is just ignoring what it has in it. Cameron succeeded in creating a virtual world for heaven's sake, LOTR was shot in new zealand, beautiful landscapes, with great graphic work in post production, but in Avatar, graphics is the world. the world of appearances may or may not be real, or both may and may not be real - or may be indescribable; or may be real and indescribable, or unreal and indescribable; or in the end may be read and unreal and indescribable - its all Syadvada | ||

This is my problem with avatar.. I dont see any textural difference between Gollum and Blue giants. And in LOTR III, the huge elefants, the black dragon and the fights associated with these creatures were simbly mesmerizing. I dont see any technical superiority with Avatar characters, somehow. I think you will notice the difference if LOTR was made using Avatar's technology. Are the expressions of the characters in LOTR as subtle as the expressions of characters in Avatar. oka sari malli compare chesi choodandi frame to frame, difference ardham avuthundhi. LOTR was in a different league when it came, some of the scenes still baffle me, like the scenes where gandlaf and bilbo baggins are in the same room, its a master piece by itself for its own reasons. its a night mare for graphic programmers to create stuff that we see in avatar. the texture overlay, was almost deemed impossible to create few years back. Avatar is just a baby step towards future graphic movies. Avatar is totally boring movie...looked like a cartoon or an advertisement for a game. CGI looked horrid and the script seems like it was written by a a group of 14 year olds. Primitive special effects and no story. Just an overhyped movie...nothing great abt this movie..
