Sources said Party president Gadkari expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of six departments during the meeting though he did not take the names of the ministers who are holding these portfolios. However, he has said the party will authorise the Chief Minister to drop the non-performing ministers, if necessary. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa is likely to reshuffle the cabinet after the ongoing Legislature session. Gadkari advised Yeddyurappa and his cabinet colleagues on Saturday to provide providing effective governance and to improve public image of the Government in the State. âGive importance to housing, road, power and irrigation, come up with innovative schemes, ensure better coordination between the Government, party and peopleâ, Gadkari said in an interaction with the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues at a private resort on the outskirts of Bangalore. âThe next three years are crucial. Improve image of the Government. Ministers should not complain about inadequate resources. Take up new projects under public private partnership model,â he is learnt to have stated. Sources said Gadkari repeatedly asked the chief minister and his cabinet colleagues to follow the Gujarat model of development. The BJP chief did some tough talking too. He is learnt to have said performance of every minister will be closely monitored and their continuation in the cabinet depends only on performance. He also directed them to be disciplined and not to speak anything controversial in public. | ||

http://www.deccanherald.com/content/79042/impose-curb-ore-ex port-cm.html Impose curb on ore export: CM tells PM Bangalore, July 3, DHNS: Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Saturday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to impose curb on export of iron ore from the country, failing which undue exploitation and illegal mining are likely to continue. In a letter to the prime minister, Yeddyurappa said over exploitation of mines and illegal mining has been a major concern of all the mineral rich states of the country. Despite several efforts undertaken by the state governments the problems continue to persist. New initiative He pointed out that the BJP government in the State took initiative to bring out a Value Added Policy in the mining sector. Karnataka was the first to introduce such a policy. Mining leases are sanctioned when the applicant demonstrates that there is value addition within Karnataka. The applicant has to either process the iron ore himself or has to tie up with another local manufacturing processing company in Karnataka. The policy was not only well received by the people of the State, but even the industrialists and entrepreneurs. Instead of giving bulk permits, which were misused by mine owners, now specific permits are given for each load and trip; bar coding and hologram based trip sheets are introduced to avoid fake permits. In addition, integrated check-posts have been set up in several locations. The chief minister said the State was planning to introduce e-permits in order to ensure further transparency and accountability in the process. Yeddyurappa has also requested the prime minister to convene a meeting of chief ministers of mineral rich States to discuss the issue. |
