Getafix:criticising ani kaadu.. just info sake vesaa aa post.. eppudo most richest and happient men in the world ane article edo sadivina.. andulo all men were polygamous .and thier spouses were cool with their husbands' polygamy and chadivinattu guthu.. anduke vesaa..
No, I did not take it as criticising. :-) Naaku kooda clear ga teliyadu. Few months ago, I was listening to one of NPR's weekend programs and they were interviewing a desi dude who won Buffet's dinner auction held for Buffet's charity. He was sharing their dinner details and that is when I heard about warren's wife and his friend. I believe she also wrote his biography recently if I am not mistaken.
Getafix:vichithram.. i was thinking that education was the source of lot of stress between couples ani. Due to the access to education more and more women are becoming career oriented and placing less emphasis on family life ani anukuntunta nenu.. Nothing against women getting an education though..
I agree with you. Nothing against women getting educated and going out to work and all. It just boils down to their individual priorities finally and that will most likely decides the fate of any relationship I think.
Anand_n:And these days stress is the biggest killer..
Very true, absolutely agree with you.

Looks like statistics show otherwise. But actually it makes sense. Being a sole breadwinner is stressful - having that onus shared relieves a lot of the finance driven stress on the man.Another reason given was that an educated woman is likely to make better choices on healthy lifestyle.. And for the women - marrying a rich man negates the need for a woman to supplement the family income and automatically places the woman higher on the Maslow's pyramid where all security needs are satisfied thus reducing stress And these days stress is the biggest killer.. Talk to you all later aa chal ke tujhe main leke chalu ik aise gagan ke tale jahan gam bhi na ho, aansoo bhi na ho,bas pyaar hi pyaar pale |

Dreamcatcher:For most of its history, marriage was an economic institution that created advantageous alliances between clans and was arranged, often, without much input from the bride or groom. But by the 19th century, many in the Western world had begun to marry for love, making the relationship infinitely more complicated and divorce a lot more common
so true...love draws passion n complicates marriage...love less passionless marriage is a succesful recipe for longterm relationships |

"What Markman, Gottman and the others were finding undermined the basic principle driving romantic relationships in America: "That it's about finding the right person. That if you find your soulmate, everything will be fine," Sollee says. "That's the big myth." It's important to choose a spouse wisely, these scientists would say, but it's equally important to be skilled in the convoluted art of conducting a marriage. " |

"A few years later, in 1989, she sat at a conference listening to Gottman talk about the results of a decades-long study of couples at his "Love Lab" in Seattle. Gottman found that all couples -- those who are happily married into their rocking-chair years and those who divorce before they hit their fifth anniversary -- disagree more or less the same amount. He found that they all argue about the same subjects -- money, kids, time and sex chief among them -- and that for the average couple, 69 percent of those disagreements will be irreconcilable. A morning bird and a night owl won't ever fully eliminate their differences; nor will a spendthrift and a penny pincher. What distinguished satisfied couples from the miserable ones, he found, was how creatively and constructively they managed those differences. " |

"Romantic love assumed a position of high value but even higher vulnerability. Still, until the second half of the 20th century, these ubiquitous couplings went largely unstudied. What happened behind closed doors generally remained private, unless one had a particularly nosy set of in-laws or a manner of fighting that necessitated police intervention. " |
